In 2023, Gage Marine Corporation proudly marked 150 years of operation—a milestone that honored our deep roots in the Lake Geneva community and the generations of memories made on its shores. From boat sales and pier service to scenic cruises and lakeside dining at PIER 290, Gage Marine has grown into a multi-faceted legacy brand committed to service, innovation, and hospitality.
As part of the celebration, Gage Marine donated $150,000 to local organizations, awarding fifteen $10,000 grants to nonprofits making a meaningful difference in Walworth County. The response was overwhelming, with over 80 applications received, showcasing the strength and spirit of our community.
A Look Back at Our Legacy
Founded in 1873 as the Lake Geneva Steamboat Line, the company evolved through several names and owners before being purchased by Russell Gage in 1958, launching the modern Gage Marine era. Over the decades, the Gage family expanded operations to include:
- Rebuilding the Lake Geneva Cruise Line fleet
- Creating Gage-Hacker classic boats
- Acquiring Inland Marine and local pier services
- Launching PIER 290, Lake Geneva’s only lakefront restaurant
- Adding premium boat brands like Chris-Craft and MasterCraft
Today, Bill Gage, Jr., third-generation owner, leads a team that includes many second- and third-generation staff members, continuing a legacy rooted in lake life and exceptional service.
Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future
“While many changes have occurred throughout our long history, two things have remained constant—the crystal blue waters of Lake Geneva and the exceptional service from our outstanding team,” said Bill Gage, Jr., President & CEO. “We don’t just sell goods and services—we help people create memories.”
The 150th anniversary campaign included a public history timeline, vintage photos, and a series of stories shared across the Gage Marine brands. The $150,000 community donation remains a proud example of giving back to the region that’s supported us for a century and a half.
